Paige Newell

Head of Mental Health

Paige joined the firm in 2016 after working within a Mental Health Act department for a number of years.

Paige’s role included checking the legality of detention procedures, under which individuals were detained in hospital under the Mental Health Act and also arranging Mental Health Tribunals and Hospital Managers Meeting. In 2015, Paige undertook a Certificate course with Northumbria University in Mental Health Law, Policies and Procedures, obtaining a result of Certificate with Commendation.

Paige holds a Business and Management BA Hons degree from Leeds University with a 2:1.

Since being with us, Paige has worked within the Mental Health department, alongside James McAulay. Paige obtained her Mental Health Accreditation in 2017 and is now representing clients before the Mental Health Tribunal and at Hospital Managers meetings. Paige is also provides legal advice to those who wish to apply to the Mental Health Tribunal or those who would like advice about their detention under the Mental Health Act. Paige also assists people prepare their cases prior to their Mental Health Tribunal.

Paige is experienced in working with individuals detained at high, medium and low secure units across the country.
