Tracey Hepworth

Senior Caseworker

Tracey joined the firm in 2010 having previously had a career in the civil service which included amongst other roles working as a judge’s clerk in the High Court before then working as a court clerk in the Crown Courts on the Manchester and Yorkshire circuits.

Familiar with the processes and procedures used at Court Tracey has a considerable experience with the types of cases and matters that appear before the Crown Court.  This experience is invaluable in her work preparing people’s defence in criminal matters.  Tracey is an accredited police station representative and is approved by the Legal Aid Agency to defend people at the police station.

Bringing a personable style to her work Tracey is well liked by her clients. Tracey has considerable experience in the defence of allegations of sexual offending, in particular historic rape allegations.

She has been recognised in the Legal Awards 2019 (Aiglobal Media) with the following award: Most Instrumental woman in criminal case preparations.

Significant Cases:

R v EH (Bradford Crown Court) – Tracey prepared the defence for a man accused of a series of historic sexual offences against two individuals.  Dealing with the matter throughout Tracey assisted the defendant reconstruct his whereabouts in the 1970′s.  The defendant was found not guilty after trial.

R v I (Derby Crown Court) - Tracey prepared the defence of a man charged with possession of indecent images.  The case involved considering complex defence expert evidence.  The Crown discontinued the case prior to trial.

R v H (Leeds Crown Court) - Tracey prepared the defence of a man accussed of sexual assault upon another man.  The case proceeded to trial before a jury and the defendant was acquitted.

R v G (Nottingham Crown Court) - Tracey prepared the case for the defendant in respect of allegations of gross indecency with a child and sexual assault.  The case was discontinued prior to trial.
